Women’s Volleyball Continues Dominance The Spalding University Women’s Volleyball team started off their conference year right with 2 big victories over Westminster College and Fontbonne University. In the first match, they cruised to a 3-0 victory of Westminster with 25-16, 25-18, 25-23 winners. Paige Dellis once again was had a great match with 11 kills, 16 digs, and 2 serving aces. Morgan Kennedy also had a great match with 8 kills, 11 digs and 1 ace. Emily Baker also had 2 serving aces in the game. The Golden Eagles earned every bit of their victory against the Fontbonne University Griffins in the second match of the day. They won the first game 25-18 and it seemed to be heading on the same path as the Westminster match. However, Fontbonne rallied back to win the next two games 25-22 and 25-21. The Golden Eagles were a loss away from losing the match, but started a little rally of their own. They came from behind to win the fourth game 25-21 to force a match deciding fifth. Behind Allison Deitzmans 3 kills and Allison Woosley’s 10 assists with 0 errors, the Golden Eagles completed their come from behind victory with a 15-10 win in game 5. The Golden Eagles truly worked as a team to pull off the victory against Fontbonne with many players contributing. Kirsten Snyder led the way defensively with 39 digs and 15 serve receptions with only 3 errors total in 5 games. Allison Dietzman and Alex Marquardt each had 14 kills and Paige Dellis had a normal match with 13 kills, 24 digs and 4 service aces. Jessica Luker also had 22 digs and 1 service ace. The Lady Golden Eagles improved their conference record to 2-0 and their overall record to 7-1. Tomorrow night September 15 they take on Transylvania University at 7:00 P.M at home.
