
Spalding Women Win the USCAA National Championship Spalding University Women’s Volleyball Team was crowned the 2008 USCAA National Champion today in a commanding victory over reigning champions, Florida College. The scores of the match were 25-18, 25-13, 26-24. The Golden Eagles were led by freshman Paige Dellis, (Mercy Academy) with 14 kills, 3 aces and sophomore Allison Woosley, (Assumption High School) with 44 assists. The team’s libero Heather Maier (Male High School) contributed 16 digs. The team’s lone senior Abby Morris (Mercy Academy) had 4 blocks, including the match-ending point. For their efforts, Allison Woosley and Paige Dellis were named to the All Tournament Team, with Dellis being named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Leading up to the championship match, Spalding defeated five other teams, losing only one set in the entire tournament. This is Spalding’s second appearance in the USCAA National Tournament and first National Championship. Spalding finished the season winning 15 of their last 17 matches.
