Windy Weekend for Men's Golf

Franklin College hosted the 2009 Franklin College Men’s Golf Invitational Sunday September 27th-28th and the Golden Eagles finished 5th out of 10 teams.  It was one of the windiest days of the year with winds gusting over 30 mph.  The wind played many tricks on the players and there were not many low scoring rounds.  Spalding had 2 individuals place in the top 10 Ben Hagan 6th place and Andrew Flynn 8th place.  Ben shot a 79 on Sunday and a 77 on Monday recording a 156 for the tournament.  Andrew shot a 77 on Sunday and a 80 on Monday.

Keith Thompson and Cody Sheeley each shot a 167 for the tournament and Sean Hennessey finished with a 184.  Windy conditions make it extremely difficult for golfers to get a feel for the course and higher scores usually follow.  Depauw, Transylvania and the College of Mt. St. Joseph rounded out the top 3 for the Invitational.

The Golden Eagles are back in action Saturday October 3rd in the Centre College Invitational in Danville, Kentucky.  This will be their second to last outing of the fall.
