Busy Week for Men’s and Women’s Golf

Campbellsville, KY—The Don Bishop Invitational was held Monday and Tuesday in Campbellsville, KY.  On the men’s side, the Golden Eagles finished in 8th place out of 10 teams.   They shot a 639, which was 63 over par.  Keith Thompson led the way in day one with a 76(+4) and a 86 on day two which tied him for 44th out of a 56 man field.  Andrew Flynn and Cody Sheeley tied for 35th both shooting 79’s(+7) during the first day and Andrew finished 48th and Cody 44th.   Ben Hagan led the way shooting an 80(+8) and a 78(+6) finishing 37th in the field. Sean Hennessey ended his tournament by shooting an 85(+13) on day 1 and a 78(+6) on day two.    

Spalding as a team shot +4 on Par 3’s, +24 on Par 4’s and +11 on Par 5’s during their first round of play.  They recorded 4 birdies on the day with 54 pars.  The invitational was a very competitive field with Campbellsville, Lindsey Wilson and University of the Cumberlands rounding out the top 3.  Campbellsville shot a 283 recording 15 birdies for the first round and shot 582 to win the invitational.  The Golden Eagles are showing signs of improvement and look to  keep battling down the stretch.

Aubrey Pohlman led the way for the Women’s golf team shooting an 84 recording 1 birdie on Monday and shot a 97 on Tuesday.   She shot even par on all Par 5’s in her first round.  She finished tied for 24th out of 38 woman field.   “Aubrey improves everyday and there are only good things to come for this young lady,” Head Coach Charlie Just stated. 

The Men’s golf team is back in action this weekend in the Franklin College Invitational and the Women are back in action October 3rd in the Centre Fall Invitational.
