Zaremba Named Runner of the Week
Alec Zaremba continues to take in honors this week as he adds to his already SLIAC Player of the Week award. The USCAA just announced that Alec has been named the National Men's Runner of the Week. This is a great honor since it spands nationally throughout all members of this division. Alec is the first Spalding University athlete this year to garner this award.
ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the athletes of the week for the week of September 21-27.
Our very own Alec Zaremba, a freshman from Louisville, Ky. (Shelby Co.), has been named the SLIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of September 21-27. Zaremba placed 55th out of 373 runners at the Brissman/Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana College (Ill.). He completed the course in 26:50 to lead all SLIAC competitors at the race. Zaremba also set a new school record for the Golden Eagles, while leading his squad to a 20th place finish out of 26 teams.
“Alec has tremendous potential and we are expecting big things from him as the season continues,” Coach Alessandro comments. “Alec and the team are working hard right now and we are excited he has earned this honor."
