Men’s Basketball Ranked 12th in Latest Poll

The USCAA came out with its fourth poll of the season this week and the Spalding Golden Eagles dropped one spot to #12 in the nation. Earlier this month the Men played two terrific games getting a win in the conference opener against Principia College and then traveled to the defending conference champions, Fontbonne University. It was there that the team played their best game of the year, knocking of the Goliath’s of the conference by 6 on their home court.

However, since then the team has dropped two straight to a very talented Campbellsvile University and then a tough 2 point loss to in state rival Alice Lloyd College. This past weekend’s game against Alice Lloyd marked the 7th game the team has played on the road compared to only 2 home games thus far. “We set the schedule up like that for a reason” Coach Gray stated. “We knew we may take some lumps early on but it will make these guys into a better team at the end of the year and that is when you want to be winning basketball games.”

The team is taking their longest break of the year as they will not play again until December 30th when Mt. Saint Joseph comes to town. That game will tip off at 7:00pm.
