8 Athletes Make All-Academic Team

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced yesterday the award winners for the Fall All-Academic Team. In order to qualify for this prestigious award a student-athlete must excel both on the playing field and in the classroom. Spalding University was well represented when the announcement came. 8 student athletes were awarded All-Academic which continues to add to the long list of award our fall teams collected.

On the Men’s Soccer team there were two student athletes that donned this award. Wes Miller, a sophomore Occupational Therapy major out of Male HS in Louisville, KY and Geoff Stenger a senior Business major out of Oak Hills HS in Cincinnati, OH. Both these players were extremely important to the run the Men’s Soccer team made finishing 3rd in the country this year. Wes Miller led the team in goals while Stenger controlled play up the middle.

On the Women’s Soccer side Lesley Bormann, a senior Natural Science major out of Butler HS in Louisville, KY and Amanda Trombley, a senior Natural Science major out of Central Hardin HS in Elizabethtown, KY both were named to the All-Academic team. The Women’s Soccer team made great strides this year and look forward to the future of the program.

Rounding out the award winners are 4 players from the Women’s Volleyball team who recently finished second in the nation for the second time in three years. Senior Morgan Kennedy from Assumption HS in Louisville, KY was the first player to win this award. This award announcement came in days after Kennedy was announced as a 1st Team All-American. Two sophomores, Kirsten Snyder and Carrie Woods also garnered the award. Woods was an essential part of dominance that Spalding presented at the net while Snyder was asset coming off the bench. Allison Woosley, a senior, also took home this award and much like Kennedy was also named to the All-American team.

The Spalding University Athletic Department would like to congratulate all the award winners this year on their success both on the field and court as well as in the classroom.
