Kevin Cromwell
Head Men's/Women’s Soccer Coach

Coach Cromwell enters his second season as the Head Coach of both the Men's and Women's Soccer teams. Cromwell comes to Spalding from Baltimore, Maryland where he was born. Because of his father’s career in the Air Force, Coach Cromwell lived in several places growing up. Most notable was the four year period he spent in Rome, Italy where he learned to play soccer and fell in love with the sport. He began coaching collegiately at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland as an assistant in 1986. He played for and captained Harford’s team in 1987 and 1988 earning all-Juco honors both seasons.  He eventually took over the head coaching position in 1991 and helped lead the team to the Region XX championship match in 1996.

After a successful two year stint at Mercy HS, Coach Cromwell took over the men’s squad at Villa Julie College in Baltimore in 1999. He coached there for five seasons and helped the Mustangs to their most successful season in 2000 when they won 11 matches. He’s also had experience coaching in Europe, and for various clubs and camps in the Baltimore area.

Coach Cromwell recently completed his BA in English, graduating in May, 2008 from Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO. Asked what he expects to bring to Spalding, Coach Cromwell says, “I believe in possession soccer and I favor the Dutch style of play. Every player needs to be fundamentally sound and have a healthy understanding of all the positions on the team. I believe attacking soccer is beautiful to watch, and it’s also fun for the players as it demands and allows creativity. I want to mold Spalding soccer around these ideas.”
