Iroquois’ Hickman Commits to Spalding
Kayla Hickman, a 5-5 guard from Iroquois High School, has committed to Spalding University and will become a member of the Golden Eagles basketball program. Hickman was a 4-year starter for the Lady Raiders and helped her team to three state tournament appearances and a state championship this past season. She was named to the all-tournament team for her play in the KHSAA State Tournament. She will join a program at Spalding that just completed its most successful season in school history and won the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship in March.
“Kayla is an excellent player and an outstanding young lady,” commented Spalding coach Charlie Just. “With her quickness and ability to shoot the basketball, she has a chance to help us a great deal in the guard position. She is also coming from a highly successful program at Iroquois, which is always a plus. We are looking forward to Kayla becoming a part of our program.”
Hickman becomes the fourth local player to commit to Spalding. She joins Janay Jones (PRP, Lewis and Clark CC), Janie Klein (Manual) and Shontel Bates (Butler).
